A Personalized Consultation
Dr. Atwood provides thorough, one-on-one consultations with each patient. He will begin your appointment by reviewing your areas of concern such as your eyes, neck, and mouth. Based on this information, he can recommend treatment. At the time of your consultation, we encourage you to bring in photos of yourself 10 or 20 years ago. This will help us evaluate your goals and maintain natural-looking results.
To help you visualize your rejuvenated self, we will take you into our examination room and take pictures. As an artist. Dr. Atwood can hand-illustrate the expected results of treatment directly onto your photo.
During surgery, Dr. Atwood will place your incisions behind your hairline to keep scarring discreet and easily concealed.
A Conservative Approach
Dr. Atwood believes in taking a conservative approach to facial rejuvenation. If your concerns are minor and concentrated above your eyes, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), alone could be the best way to enhance your appearance. On the other hand, Dr. Atwood may recommend an upper or lower facelift only. He may also recommend procedures such as lip augmentation or cheek implants to help you achieve the most natural-looking results. BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers can also complement your facelift. In other instances, these treatments alone may be sufficient in achieving your goals. You can depend on Dr. Atwood to recommend the most conservative approach possible.

Facelift Surgery
In preparation for your surgery, Dr. Atwood and his staff will place you on a skin care protocol for four to six weeks prior to surgery.
On the day of surgery, a certified anesthesiologist will provide treatment in order to ensure that you are completely comfortable throughout surgery. Incisions will be placed in the most discreet areas possible. Often, they are placed behind the hairline, resulting in easily concealed scarring. Dr. Atwood will then refine the underlying tissues to restore youthful contours. The tissues will be secured with sutures. Finally, excess skin will be trimmed away, and the incisions will be sutured closed.
Recovering from a Facelift
If you undergo a lower facelift, Dr. Atwood will see you in his office the next day to remove your wraps and assess the health of your incisions. Five days after your surgery, Dr. Atwood will remove your sutures. For upper facelifts that require a scalp incision with staples, you will need to revisit our office after 10 days. As you heal, we will schedule evaluations with Dr. Atwood at three weeks, six weeks, and three months. Throughout your recovery, Dr. Atwood is available to answer his own phone calls in the event of a concern or emergency.
